What is aligner system?
Aligners are series of nearly invisible, removable, and comfortable trays that are quite discreet when you're wearing them. So, you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Aligners are made with 3-D computer imaging technology and has been proven effective.
Why would I want aligners?
Not only are the aligners nearly invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing take less time compared to traditional braces. They are also comfortable, with no braces to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. No braces and wires usually means you spend less time in our office getting adjustments. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete. Aligners, however, does affect speech more than traditional braces as the aligners cover the entire tooth surface, an area often used by the tongue for speech.
How does aligners work?
You wear each set of aligners for 1 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position Dr. Saks has prescribed. You'll visit our office about once every 10-12 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time will depend on the severity of the condition present at the start, and will likely vary from as little as six to as many as 30 months long.
